Remove Tamper from Tecom Smart Card Readers
Tecom Smart Card reader tamper alarms are a common issue. Things like ants, bugs or even dirt can get behind the card reader and cause grief.
These issues can also arise when mounted on uneven surfaces. There is a simple way to solve this problem if you cant fix it physically. Disable the tamper.
To disable the tamper switch on a Smart Card Reader you first need to know which door it is. Usually, you will already know this as it has been raised by a monitoring center or the client.
If it is a RAS/Door 2-16 you can access this by going to the following:
- Menu
- Installer Code
- 19 Enter (Installer Menu)
- 28 Enter (Remote Control)
- 2 Enter (1 DGP – 2 RAS)
- 10 Enter (Select RAS number) – (We will use 10 in this example)
- 17 Enter (Tamper Options)
- Menu to change Enable or Disable
- Enter out of Installer Menus.
If the RAS is polled via the sub LAN on a door controller you will need to know what DGP it is and then what door number it is. You can use the table below to find the DGP and Door number below.
To disable a tamper on RAS 20 which is Door 4 on DGP 1, we need to do the following:
- Menu
- Installer Code
- 19 Enter (Installer Menu)
- 28 Enter (Remote Control)
- 1 Enter (1 DGP – 2 RAS)
- 1 Enter (DGP 1)
- 9 10 Enter (Remote Control – Sub Lan)
- 2 Enter (1 DGP – 2 RAS)
- 4 Enter (Select RAS number) – (RAS 4 is Door 20 in this example)
- 17 Enter (Tamper Options)
- Menu to change Enable or Disable
- Enter out of Installer Menus.
