How to Change Zone Type – NX / Reliance
Changing a zone to a different type
Quite often you will need to change zone types for different zones. You may need to create a zone to be a Keyswitch, key switches are used to turn on and off the alarm.
You may also need to create a 24-hour zone type for a panic or duress button.
First thing you will need to know is the zone number you are working with. You can tell by looking at the main panel and see where the zone is wired into. See below.
In this example, we have a fire exit door that needs to be alarmed 24 hours, so anytime the door opens we want an alarm to be generated. For this example we are going to use Zone 2, so we want to make it an input type 26.
To make these changes we will do the following.
- *8
- 9713 (Installer Code)
- 0#
- 18# (Enters Location 18 – Zone 1 to 8 Input Types)
- * * (Will Display Zone 2 input type) Each time * is pressed it will jump to the next zone type until you reach zone 8.
- 26* (This will change zone 2 to input type 26)
- # Exits location 18
- Exit
You have now programmed zone 2 to be a 24-hour audible zone.
NX / Reliance Default Zone Types

active in partial mode. This zone type may be faulted while arming if forced arming is enabled in the
area options.

type will be part of the group bypass zones.
13 Handover: Twin Trip – Group Bypass – Forced Arming – Interior zone that follows the entry delay
zones. Instant alarm type unless an entry zone if faulted first. This zone will be bypassed in partial
mode. This zone type may be faulted while arming if forced arming is enabled in the area options.
This zone type will require two triggers or another zone would have to have been trigged before it will
activate an alarm. This zone type will be part of the group bypass zones.
14 Handover: Partial – Twin Trip – Group Isolate – Forced Arming – Interior zone that follows the
entry delay zones. Instant alarm type unless an entry zone if faulted first. This zone will be active in
partial mode. This zone type may be faulted while arming if forced arming is enabled in the area
options. This zone type will require two triggers or another zone would have to have been trigged
before it will activate an alarm. This zone type will be part of the group bypass zones.
15 Instant: – Produces an instant alarm if tripped when armed. Ignored when disarmed. This zone will
be bypassed in partial mode.

line monitoring if enabled in the system options.
